DBKL: KL Wholesale Market Workers Must Now Wear Colour- Coded Uniforms

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) announced that KL Wholesale Market (Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur) workers will wear colour-coded uniforms from 10th July onwards.
In a statement posted on the DBKL Facebook page, the mayor said that licensees and employees at the wholesale market in Selayang are required to wear uniforms based on the produce they sell as below:
- Green – Vegetables
- Red – Fruits
- Blue – Fish
DBKL states that this new requirement is compulsory. Those that do not follow the colour-code and have the necessary worker/license holder pass will be barred from entering the market.
The rationale behind this new rule is to keep the wholesale market “neat and orderly” while making it easier to locate workers as it will help prevent them from being in unrelated areas.
Since the detection of Covid-19 among KL Wholesale Market workers in late April, the market has undergone quite the overhaul with intense disinfection exercises and barring foreigners from working at the market.
Later in June, DBKL announced that foreigners and refugees cannot enter the market unless they have a valid permit and are accompanied by a Malaysian.
