Police recently rounded up over 100 people for violating Covid-19 guidelines at several bars, pubs, and nightclubs nationwide during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period.
As the country moves further into the new normal, Malaysian socialites might simply be wondering, “can or can’t we party?” with the RMCO now in full effect.
Short answer. Well it depends…
According to the National Security Council’s (NSC) guidelines, the government strictly prohibits bars and clubs from operating during the RMCO due to difficulties in managing hygiene and social distancing practices.
However an exception is given to businesses that serve food along with their alcohol, so you might want to consider that Catch-22 the next time you go out to socialise.
Meanwhile for private events, the government said that people can still party if Covid-19 guidelines can be maintained.
