Govt Administration Must Declare Assets Within 3 Months After Taking Oath

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that each member of the government administration must make a declaration of property within 3 months from the date of oath.

He chaired the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption (JKKMAR) meeting which also has agreed to forward policy decisions reached at previous meetings:

The policies: Hold regular JKKMAR and National Anti-Corruption (JAR) meetings in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Directive in 2018.

Strengthening the accountability and integrity of MPs through the policy of declaring property and accepting gifts.

Implementing the Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) and Corruption Risk Assessment (CRM) across all ministries / public sectors for effective anti-corruption control.

Strengthening the anti-corruption system in the private sector through Beneficiary Ownership and business entities in accordance with the Practical Guidelines

Increase the effectiveness and transparency of public procurement to avoid leakage of public funds and focus on economic issues especially the cost of living of the people.

The proposals made by agencies (agreed in principle): The recommendation of the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) for all ministries and agencies responsible for issuing permits and licenses to publish the License Application Guidelines which will be published online for general information.

To conduct a comprehensive study to improve compliance with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Report (MACC) and the Integrity Agency Report (SIAP) Report.

The proposal presented by Cyber ​​Security Malaysia for a study to be carried out to obtain empirical evidence of the requirements of digital anti-corruption and to identify relevant legal requirements.

Other things they talked about: To improve governance and integrity through the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023 and ensure the aim of enhancing the economy and the well-being of the people can be implemented in a transparent and effective manner.
