Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced at a press conference that restaurants are no longer required to limit the number of people at a table as long as social distancing is adhered to, and that children are now allowed to go out with their parents.

What you need to know: Previously, restaurant SOP dictated that there can only be a maximum of four people per table, regardless of table size. Now, that rule has been lifted, allowing restaurants to seat guests according to table size. However, social distancing must still be observed in between tables. In addition, children are now allowed to leave their homes to go to playgrounds, restaurants, and shopping malls.

Why it matters: The relaxation of these SOPs will mean that more people will be out and about. Restaurants and other public spaces will see an increase of guests. This means that each individual will need to be aware and diligently practice good hygiene while in public. Additionally, parents must now ensure their children are taken care of.

Who said what: Ismail Sabri added that while there are no longer rules to keep children at home, parents are reminded to not bring them out too often unnecessarily, as children are a high-risk group for Covid-19.
