With Malaysia entering the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) on 10th June, Malaysians can once again freely embark on interstate travel.

However, there are some health guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that travellers need to know before starting their journey.

R&R Stops

Travellers can stop at the rest and service area (R&R) and use the facilities provided as long as they adhere to the SOPs which include self-discipline and social distancing.

Bernama states that surau facilities are also open to Muslims for prayers. However, PLUS states that it’s still closed to the public until further notice.

PLUS Malaysia has also introduced a pre-order meal service through the PLUS mobile app. Travellers on PLUS highways can place their orders and make payments earlier before they reach the eateries.

Then, customers can collect their food from pick-up points at selected R&R stalls.

The Star reports that most food stalls (including dining areas) and food trucks at the R&R will reopen from 15 June.

Toll Payment

As PLUS Malaysia highway has gone cashless since last year, travellers are advised to make sure that their Touch N Go cards have sufficient balance before beginning their journey.

No manual reloading of Touch N Go cards is available at PLUS highway toll plazas.

Check the traffic

With daily traffic volume expected to increase 10%-15% during the first weekend of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), highway users with enquiries can engage with a chatbot named PUTRI.

PLUS Chief Technology & Innovation Officer Shamsul Izhan Abdul Majid said the chatbot will provide real time interface to enquiries on highway information including traffic updates, toll fares, PLUSMiles, products, facilities, and promotions to events.

The chatbot is available on the PLUS website (HERE), PLUSMiles portal (HERE), and the PLUS Mobile App (HERE).
