Great news for all you to-be-wed couples out there, as it seems that even a pandemic won’t be enough to stop the power of love.
Authorities are now allowing couples to travel across state borders to get married as well as partake in all the usual wedding madness that accompanies the matrimony of two people.
With permission acquired from local police, Malaysians are allowed (starting June 2) to host or attend a nikah or solemnization ceremony, provided that Covid-19 guidelines are observed.
The ‘Covid-Nikah’ standard operating procedures (SOP) would include the usual hygiene and social distancing practices as well as only a 20-people maximum limit on attendance (including the bride and groom).
However, for those who plan on going all out on their nuptials this year, be advised, the government is still not allowing any form of wedding receptions or kenduri kahwin ceremony to take place.
Couples would also only be allowed to shoot (with the aid of photographers) their pre-wedding and solemnization ceremony pictures as a token to remember the event.
Since the start of the nationwide lockdowns, Malaysian couples, namely the Muslim ones, have been taking part in the revolutionary method of getting married online through video conferencing and other tools.
