Sabah Police Arrest Five Drivers For Drunk Driving

Sabah Royal Malaysian Police have arrested five drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol last night.

According to Penampang District Police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim, the arrests were made at roadblocks across Penampang and Putatan under the Ops Mabuk police operation which was conducted during the Hari Raya festive weekend.

During the operation at Jalan Bundusan here, we arrested five male drivers for driving inebriated above the allowed blood alcohol limit.

He added that the police also issued as many as 21 summonses to both motorcyclist and drivers for a variety of offences.

He explained that throughout the festive weekend, the Penampang district police headquarters cooperated with the Sabah Contingent Police headquarters to increase the number of roadblocks and monitor road safety in the district.

The operation was also aimed to raise awareness among road users of road accidents. They were advised to adhere to road safety laws and regulations as they are not just endangering themselves, but also those around them.
