Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that driving schools will be allowed to resume operations starting this Monday, 1 June 2020.

During his press conference, he said that the government has received appeals from driving schools nationwide to reopen. As such, driving lessons as well as driving tests conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be able to resume.

The driving schools will be able to operate as usual from 8am to 4pm. However, there will be additional standard operating procedures to be put in place based on the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Security Council (NSC).

This includes checking the students’ and teachers’ body temperatures, sanitising the interior and exterior of the vehicle after each use, and identifying the capacity of the premise so that proper social distancing guidelines are followed.
