Police Issue RM1,000 Compounds To 23 Individuals Caught At Raya Open House In Kedah

As many as 23 individuals were issued compounds of RM1,000 each by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) after they were found congregating at a Hari Raya open house last night (Tuesday, 26 May 2020) in Gurun, Kedah.

According to Yan District Police Chief Superintendent Shahnaz Akhtar Haji, who released a press statement on the matter, the open house was discovered while his team was patrolling the area at 8.30pm, in-line with the enforcement of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

When the police arrived, they found 23 individuals attending the Aidilfitri celebration at the invitation of the host.

The police then took the guests, aged between 19 and 25 years old, to the Yan District Police Headquarters for further action under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020

Shahnaz explained that while being questioned by the police, all the guests admitted that they had gathered at the house for a Hari Raya dinner party and the 24-year-old host also admitted to inviting a few of his good friends and relatives to his house at the time and date of the incident, for a Hari Raya open house.

They were all found to have gathered and breached the CMCO. Following that, the police have issued compounds to all individuals involved.
