Wuhan, the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic raging across the globe, has more bad news to deliver this week.

In just one month after lifting their virus lockdown, a new cluster of coronavirus infections has emerged.

Channel News Asia (CNA) reports that the five new infections emerged from the same residential compound after the first case was confirmed on 3rd April.

Over the weekend, 6 new cases emerged from this cluster. As a result, a top Wuhan official was sacked for poor management over the closing-off and control of the residential community.

The emergence of this new cluster has prompted worry as the city’s lockdown was lifted on 8th April and more people head out to work as the economic sectors open again.

Wuhan’s strict lockdown was lifted following declining cases of Covid-19 over weeks.

According to CNA,  all of the latest cases in Wuhan were previously classified as asymptomatic, but tested positive for the virus and capable of infecting others.
