Sarawak has announced new immigration guidelines for people who are entering or leaving the state during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Visitors, whether Malaysians or non-Malaysians, from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah whose social visit or travel passes have expired since 1 Jan 2020 until 14 days after the MCO is lifted will be allowed to leave Sarawak without the need to apply for an extension.

However, those using social visit or travel passes and intend to stay past 14 days after the MCO is lifted will be required to apply for an extension from the Sarawak Immigration Department.

Sarawak Immigration Department director Datu Ken Leben states that any individual who needs an extension must make an appointment using the Online Appointment System (STO) at the department website.

Members of the public must practice social distancing at the Immigration Offices. Everyone will be required to wear a mask, their body temperature will be checked, and they must use hand sanitiser before dealing with immigration officers.

He further stressed that only customers who have made an appointment would be entertained for visa extension.

The immigration department will probably not see much traffic if that’s the case, since the government website does not seem to be working at the moment. You can try your luck at the provided link here.
