The daughter of UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Nurul Hidayah and her husband, Datuk Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff were each fined RM800 by Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court today for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The sentence was given by Magistrate Shahwira Abdul Halim after the two pleaded guilty to the charge of violating the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in the Infectious Diseases Local Area) 2020.

On 20th April, Nurul Hidayah posted a picture on Instagram showing her and her husband’s visit to Putrajaya with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri and Deputy Minister of Environment and Water, Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad at their respective offices.

She alleged the visit was on behalf of her non-governmental group within the MCO.

However, the 41-year-old’s actions immediately drew flak from Malaysians online who accused her of violating the MCO and abusing her privilege as the child of a high-profile political figure.

She responded to the criticisms by challenging people to make a police report, which they did.
