[Update] When asked by the media about the status of the 3 areas, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that although wires have been installed in these locations, they will not be classified as EMCOs.
However, according to Paul Tan, residents in these areas will be tested for Covid-19 and the government have tightened control by deploying personnel on-ground.
Taman Wilayah and Taman Desa Bakti, both in Selayang, and the Chow Kit market area surrounding Jalan Raja Bot were put under the EMCO between late last night and the early hours of this morning.
This is after the Health Ministry recorded a spike of new Covid-19 infections from the Chow Kit market area with 16 new local cases identified.
Footage then surfaced on social media from residents showing authorities already being deployed in the area and sealing off points of entry with barbed wire.
