State Assemblywoman for Bandar Utama, Jamaliah Jamaluddin shared a post on her Facebook announcing that her office had received a report on 26 April that a positive Covid-19 case was detected at Pasar Pagi Taman Megah.

According to her post, the patient is a vegetable vendor at the market.

Due to this, Pasar Pagi Taman Megah has been closed temporarily for the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to conduct cleaning and disinfection operations. Meanwhile, the rest of the market’s vendors have been advised to get themselves tested for Covid-19.

Jamaliah continued to explain that her office has yet to receive any further information about the issue as it is still under the purview of the Health Ministry, who will issue any further directives that may be necessary.

For now, only family members and close contacts of the patient are being interviewed and may be sent for testing if it is required.

Jamaliah advises the market’s regular customers to get screened for the virus at the hospitals as well, especially those who exhibit flu-like symptoms such as fever and cough.
