The World Health Organization (WHO) thinks that the Covid-19 pandemic will likely be with us for a very long time.

Experts at WHO believe that the world can never go back to the way it was before and that humanity must learn to adapt to a “new normal”.

While many nations have essentially managed to bring the pandemic under control with strict social distancing measures and lockdown restrictions, WHO explains that the situation could worsen at any time as the virus remains extremely dangerous and susceptible to huge parts of the population.

Plenty of work to be done

WHO says that most countries are still in the early stages of tackling the pandemic while others are seeing a resurgence of cases, where the number of infections begins to increase, again.

Experts say that as long as the virus exists, the chances of an outbreak remain very high, and nations have to plan and anticipate future eventualities in order to successfully put a stop to the pandemic.

As of April there have been over 2.5 million confirmed Covid-19 infections around the globe, with over 180,000 reported deaths.

The United Nations (UN) had also previously come out saying that the world would only return to normal once a vaccine for the viral strain is found.
