The Immigration Department is looking to change the current standard operating procedures (SOPs) after the Movement Control Order (MCO) for the entry of foreigners into the country.
Immigration Director-General Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the SOP will be based on what they’ve learned from the Covid-19 outbreak since it began in December.
He said that the even after the MCO has ended, the conditions would be stricter for foreigners who want to enter the country at all of the entry points, even if they don’t have any Covid-19 symptoms.
During the MCO, foreigners are not allowed to enter the country except for dignitaries such as ambassadors, foreign representatives and also permanent residents.
Khairul also said SOPs will be brought to the attention of the Home Ministry before they’ll be adopted.
