Those in Selangor who have obtained their Marriage Permit (Kebenaran Berkahwin) are now allowed to walk down the aisle, according to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).

The decision was taken after consent was given by the state’s monarch Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and also taking into account the current situation.

However, the Islamic governing body states that those who want to do so must adhere to Section 7 of the Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.

Also, according to the press statement released on social media recently, besides the permit, couples would need to have a reasonable excuse and the permission of the Director of JAIS before proceeding to get married.

As for those who want to obtain their Marriage Permit during the MCO period, JAIS said they will not issue new permits for now.
