Malaysians Without Bank Accounts Can Get BPN Aid In Cash

Malaysians who don’t own a bank account can get their Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) aid handed out to them in cash.

The Finance Ministry said that there were more than 400,000 BPN recipients that will be receiving their money in cash for not possessing an active banking account.

These Malaysians can claim BPN payments at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) outlet nationwide from April 17 till the end of December.

The BPN aid program is part of the RM20 billion Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) implemented by the government to supplement the nation’s economy as well as aiding the rakyat during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Payments are expected to be made to nearly 7 million citizens, costing the public coffers more than RM9 million

According to the ministry, there were also close to 3 million Malaysians who are currently appealing to get their BPN aid that is currently being reviewed by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).

Final decisions on appeal approvals will be made before the end of April.
