Food Delivery Riders & Drivers Must Undergo Mandatory Health Screening To Work During MCO

Local food delivery riders and drivers are required to undergo health screenings to work during the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
Dispatch workers who are either employed to food delivery companies (such as Grab or FoodPanda), restaurants (such as fast-food joints or local stores) or working individually (if say Mak Cik Kiah Pisang Goreng has her own delivery service), would need to take mandatory a checkup to ensure their health and safety to continue working during the pandemic.
Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob mentioned that those in the food delivery business are still allowed to operate during the MCO and despite the government’s nationwide ban on Ramadan bazaars.

The minister explained that as frontlineres with direct and widespread contact with the public, these delivery riders and drivers would need to be kept in check not only to maintain their health but also avoid the further spread of the coronavirus.
Ismail Sabri says that health screenings can be done at any public or private health institution across the country, however, did not mention if the ordered screenings would need to include tests for Covid-19.
Putrajaya also wants small businesses and individuals within the food delivery service industry, especially in rural areas, to register themselves with local authorities so that the government can keep track of their health and movement during the pandemic.
The Transport Ministry is expected to circulate instructions and guidelines to the over 40 different major food delivery services operating in the country, while the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will be responsible for keeping tabs on other local businesses and enterprises.
