In the latest bid to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Selangor Sultan has decreed that there will be no Friday prayers, congregational prayers and sermons in mosques, suraus and musolla until 31st May 2020.
In a statement released by the Sultan’s private secretary, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj also decreed that all mosques and surau activities throughout Selangor be suspended during this time.
The decision was made following a meeting with Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Selangor Mufti Department and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) on 13th April regarding the severity of Covid-19 in the state.
However, the statement also explained that this suspension might be shortened depending if the outbreak is controlled.
