Phase Two of Food Basket Aid Distributed To 3,511 Orang Asli Households

3,511 household heads from the Orang Asli community in multiple states have received their food basket aid as part of the government’s initiative to provide assistance to the group in light of Covid-19.

The Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) under the Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) have distributed aid to four locations in Pahang – Kampung Orang Asli (KOA) Sungai Tementong, KOA Sungai Garam, KOA Mutan and KOA Sungai Sekin.

Over in other states, aid has also been distributed to Orang Asli villages in Johor (Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi), Kelantan (Gua Musang), Negeri Sembilan (Jempol) and Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat).

Phase 2 of the Food Basket Aid distribution programme started on Friday involving 55,000 household heads in 853 villages nationwide.

The initiative was made to take care the welfare of the Orang Asli community affected during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The first phase was between 2 April to 10 April as food baskets were distributed to 49,670 household heads in 853 Orang Asli villages.
