Previously, the homeless people in KL were rounded up off the streets and given a place to sleep so that they can observe the movement control order (MCO) as well.

Now, 800 of these homeless people who are currently housed at the temporary shelters will be offered jobs once the MCO is lifted.

Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that all of them will be screened and those who have the ability to work and are in good health will be trained for job opportunities during the MCO.

The Crisis Management Centre (CMC) and several private companies have expressed interest in offering them jobs, so those who make the cut will go through an induction course before being offered a suitable job with fixed salaries of RM1,200 to RM1,400 per month as factory operators or general workers.

Annuar said that those who have passed the screenings will be able to start their new jobs on May 1 if the MCO is not extended.

We will not let these people to continue being homeless after the MCO ends.

While they wait to begin their new jobs, the homeless who have been selected will be placed in two hostels provided by the DBKL and the companies that will be hiring them.
