When Malaysia announced the Movement Control Order that will begin on 18th March, many Malaysians working in Singapore were caught in a conundrum.

Daily commute to the island nation was impossible as Malaysia closed its borders, and those who return have to undergo 14 days of quarantine.

Well, the tides have turned as Malaysiakini reports that the government has waived the quarantine requirement for Malaysians working in Singapore who wish to return home.

However, there is just one condition: they must undergo a Covid-19 swab test in Singapore to prove that they’re not infected.

Malaysians are then allowed to freely enter after presenting a letter or certificate that confirms they are free of Covid-19.

Singapore also announced a month-long “circuit-breaker” beginning 4th April, closing schools and most workplaces. The country had already shut its doors to tourists and short-term visitors from 24th March and only allowed the entry of work pass holders employed in essential services.
