Being stuck at home with nothing better to do has led to more time in front of the TV for most Malaysians.
Astro has seen an increase of viewership and time on platform all across the board. More people are watching Astro for a longer time.
New users have also signed up since Astro has made its platforms free, such as NJOI and Astro GO, until 14 April 2020.
Kids channels on Astro have garnered a daily average of 4.2 million viewers during the first 5 days of the movement control order (MCO).
All news channels have registered at 71% rise in TV viewership, so evidently Malaysians are diligently following updates of the Covid-19 situation.
In an effort to entertain Malaysians and to encourage us to #stayathome, Astro is hosting the country’s first 7-day Concert@Home in partnership with Etika. #WONDADiRumah will be hosted on Astro Ria and Era.je‘s IGTV.
During this MCO, entertainment industries are a lifeline to stop us from getting cabin fever. Almost all entertainment platforms have seen a rise in viewership as people turn to TV shows and movies to accompany them.
