These Are The Utility Perks We’re Getting From The Economic Stimulus Package

Today, the Prime Minister announced the Economic Stimulus Package a.k.a PRIHATIN worth RM250 billion which will benefit every single Malaysian person. 

No one will be left behind.

To ensure that Malaysians will not need to worry about basic utilities throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period and after, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that part of the package will be allocated towards supplying electricity and internet to the country.

Between 15% – 50% discount on electricity bills

With the allocation of RM500 million, the government is collaborating with Tenaga Nasional Berhad to provide a discount on electricity bills effective for a period of six months starting with the April 2020 bill. The discount will be gradual between 15% and 50% with a maximum limit of 600 kilowatts per month.

15% discount on electricity consumption between 301 to 600 kilowatts.

25% discount on electricity consumption between 201 and 300 kilowatts.

50% discount on electricity consumption below 200 kilowatts.

This is in addition to the previous 2% electricity bill discount announced in the previous economic stimulus package.

Free internet for all customers

With the cooperation of local telecommunication companies and an allocation of RM600 million, the government is offering free internet to all customers starting 1 April 2020 until the end of the MCO.

On top of that, the government is also investing RM400 million into the telecommunications industry to increase network coverage, capability and quality.
