Movement Control Order to be extended to 14th of April 2020
The Movement Control Order (MCO) period is being extended to April 14, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In announcing it today, Muhyiddin says the government came to the decision after being given briefings.
“I was given briefings by the Health Ministry and National Security Council. The current trend shows that new Covid-19 positive cases are still happening.
“This trend is expected to continue for a while before before new cases start to decrease.
“This requires the government to continue the Movement Control Order for a longer period,” he said.
He also encouraged those who are outside of Kuala Lumpur not to rush back to the city.
“Stay at your kampungs (villages) and don’t go anywhere. Kids who should be returning to doms, don’t go back yet.
“Wait. Offices which are closed don’t need to be reopened yet. If there’s something important that needs to be done in the next two or three weeks, plan from now on how to handle it,” said Muhyiddin.
Originally, the MCO was supposed to last from March 18 to March 31.
