KTMB Urges ETS 9173 Passengers To Undergo Screening

Those who boarded the Electric Train Service (ETS) No. 9173 from the Butterworth Station to the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station on March 7 are urged to get health screening for possible COVID-19 infection.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said the screening was necessary as one of the coach passengers tested positive for the coronavirus and is also the country’s 11th COVID-19 fatality.

The train operator also said that they will immediately suspend their services to conduct cleaning and disinfecting exercises on the affected train and other ETS coaches to reduce the risk spreading to staff members and passengers.

The 70-year-old man died on March 23 after beginning to show symptoms a week before he admitted to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz-Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HCTM-UKM) on March 18.

It was reported that the man, who was also the chairman of his local mosque already had a history of chronic illnesses and traveled to Indonesia in February.
