Team M’sia wins 8 medals at World Wushu Championships, rising to 6th spot globally


The World Wushu Championships, organised by the International Wushu Federation, are held every two years. This year’s 2019 championships took place in Shanghai, where Malaysia came home with a total of 8 medals!
Team Malaysia is at 6th place overall with 2 golds, 5 silvers, and 1 bronze.
This is an improvement from last year, when Team Malaysia only came in at 8th place.
The 2019 championships hosted a total of 37 countries to compete against each other in 44 different categories.
Malaysia won their gold medals in the men’s Xing Yi Quan and the women’s Nan Dao.
Athlete Chuah Shang Yang won gold for his performance of the martial art Xing Yi Quan.
