Govt needs your creative help! New logo design contest announced!

Last January, Malaysians understandably criticised the 2020 visit Malaysia logo design for being amateurish and embarrassing.

In response to the complaints, the government held a design competition to give those who felt like they could do a better job a chance to submit their own designs to the Tourism Ministry.

However, when the ministry chose a winner, Malaysians still criticised the design chosen.

The government then reportedly announced that despite the widespread complaints, the number of submissions for the contest was really low.

Now, the government is giving the people another chance to help with a new logo design for the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre.

The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre, previously known as Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC) are looking for a new logo, acronym (with a name as long as theirs, they really need one), and rationale that identifies with the Centre’s image.

The new logo will be used for all exhibitions, printing activities, and any related event and social events.

Since the Centre was rebranded in October by Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed they now have an expanded portfolio.

The centre will also act as a hub for climate change data, policy analysis, reporting and monitoring of mitigation actions and climate change adaptation on the national level.

The new logo is to replace the previously used logo and must be based on the following vision mission and objective:

“To become the leading organisation in spearheading green technology for growth and sustainability”

The philosophy of the logo design contest will be based on the three pillars:

1. The sustainability of the economic growth
2. A resilient environment
3. The well-being of society

Participation in the contest is free and open to all Malaysian citizens aged 21 years and above.

Participants will be allowed to submit more than one entry, though only one design will be picked as the winner. All designs must be original work or the submitted work will be disqualified.

The competition’s winner will receive cash prize and a certificate.

We urge all Malaysian designers to participate in the competition. Actually, even if you aren’t a legit designer but think you can do a good job, you should apply and make us proud!
