Milo packed drinks in M’sia will stop using plastic straws by the end of 2019!

Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd has announced that they will start replacing their plastic straws with paper straws soon!

Paper straws will be included in their Milo UHT 125 millilitres (ml) drink cartons distributed during the fourth quarter of this year.

The move is expected to reduce the use of 40 million plastic straws a year and make Nestle the first food and beverage company in Malaysia to use paper straws in packed drinks.

The company, which aims to eventually stop using over 200 million straws a year, will change from using plastic straws in their other Milo UHT packs to paper straws in stages.

Chief Executive Officer Juan Aranols said in a statement on Sunday that the move is Nestle’s latest effort towards their pledge for 100% recyclable or reusable packaging materials by 2025.
