National diver Dhabitah Sabri dove her way into 2020 Tokyo Olympics

The athletic mermaid took home the gold medal in the women’s 3m springboard individual event at the Asian Diving Cup 2019 over the weekend, sealing her place for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Pushing through her nerves throughout the competition, the 20-year-old athlete impressed judges with her stunning performance, collecting a total of 313.85 points.
Dhabitah finished ahead of her comrade, Loh Zhiayi who took the silver with 223.45 points and Indonesia’s Linadini Yasmin who won the bronze medal with 191.30 points.
And as if taking home one gold medal wasn’t enough, Dhabitah took home another win during her paired performance with fellow diver, Muhd Syafiq Puteh in the mixed 3m event!

The dynamic duo scored 286.56 points, finishing ahead of Indonesia that took the silver and China.
This year’s Asian Cup which came to a close yesterday saw participation from 11 countries.
Malaysia finished ahead of the flock school scoring six gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
