Perlis Superwoman Makes History As States’ FIRST Female Police Chief

Malaysian women have been on a ROLL lately!

Last week, we celebrated the appointment of Agustavia Joe Guasi as Sabah’s first female Fire Station Chief. This week, we celebrate another superwoman in the northernmost state of Perlis.

Datuk Surina Saad made history as Perlis’s FIRST female police chief!

Th 56-year-old policewoman is a total wonder woman. She’s been serving in the police force for over 30 years, previously as Principal Assistant Director E5 in the Special Branch, Bukit Aman.

Hailing from Seriab, Perlis, Datuk Surina is honoured by the history-making appointment as the new state police chief.

It is my parents’ and my wish for me to return to this state and serve here. I have been a police officer for over 30 years, so I want to give the best service to the state.

The appointment of Datuk Surina harkens the growing recognition of capable female police officers.

In fact, it was only about 10 years ago that Malaysia welcomed its first female state Chief Police Officer!

Datuk Robiah Abdul Ghani was the OG superwoman who first made national history when she was appointed as the Chief Police Officer of Pahang in 2008.
