Patient & driver killed after ambulance tyre burst in Perak
The cause of a freak highway accident near Slim River over the weekend, has finally been identified.
It was caused by the right rear tyre of the ambulance that had burst.
When the right rear tyre burst, the ambulance was sent spinning, hitting the divider, and finally overturning.
Eight personnel from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to the scene to help the victims.
The ambulance was ferrying a patient for further treatment in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Ipoh.
Instead, due to this accident, the life of the 37-year-old ambulance driver was claimed on the spot due to massive injuries to his head.
Sadly, the 66-year-old female patient also passed away, succumbing to death at the Slim River Hospital as her breathing tube was disconnected due to the accident.
A male medical assistant also suffered some injuries.
Meanwhile, two others were also involved in the 6.20am accident – a female doctor and a nurse. Both escaped the accident unscathed.
