M’sian jailed for one day after stealing Musang King durian
Durian lovers! How far would you go to get your durian fix?
A night market vendor was recently jailed for one day after stealing Musang King durian.
According to Astro Awani, Luqman Hakim Yusof stole five packets of Musang King durian from Aeon Mall Shah Alam (yes, the big one in Section 13) at 6pm on June 1, 2019.
He was remanded for three days while police investigated the foul(-smelling) crime and found that he had stolen up to RM400 worth of the pungent fruit.
Luqman was then charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code which saw him facing up to 10 years of jail and a fine or both.
Luckily for him, after pleading guilty to his malodorous crime, the 24-year-old was sentenced to just one day of jail and a fine of RM1,000.
We don’t know about you folks, but no durian is worth RM1,000 and a sleepover in prison for us.
