It was smiles all around as ‘Team Mission Baby Ainul’ was greeted with a visit from Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad last weekend in London, UK.
In a posting on Instagram, Dr Amalina Che Bakri – London-based Malaysian doctor and one of the key figures in arranging baby Ainul’s surgery – shared moments that transpired during their meet at the Hari Raya open house at the Malaysian High Commissioner’s residence in London, on Sunday.
In one of the pictures shared by the good doctor, the team – which consist of Dr Juling Ong, Dr Sharifah, Dr Fahja and Dr Najmiah  – is seen posing together with Dr Mahathir along with baby Ainul’s parents, Ahmad Saifuddin and  Nurul Erwani Zaidi.

This took place during Dr Mahathir’s three-day diplomatic visit to the UK accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
Nine-month-old Ainul Mardiah was recently flown to the UK to receive medical treatment for a rare form of cancer referred as a Germ Cell Tumor. The large 200g tumor which grew in the little girl’s mouth took doctors 5 hours to remove.
It was reported that baby Ainul is in stable condition and is now able to breathe on her own without the assistance of any life support.
(Facebook posting from baby Ainul’s father reading, “praise to Allah, Ainul no longer needs oxygen assistance. Now Ainul can breathe on her own”.)
Looks like we got ourselves a fighter over here! Let’s all send our thoughts and prayers for baby Ainul’s speedy recovery.
