Harimau Malaya slays Timor Leste with 12-2 at World Cup qualifiers!

Well, well, well… Malaysian sports is on FIRE recently.
We have our women’s hockey team trashing Singapore in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers and Suresh Selvathamby giving Malaysia its first ever gold medal in para-archery.
And now our Harimau Malaya is roaring in victory over Timor Leste, eliminating them with a spectacular aggregate 12-2 score at the 2022 World Cup/Asian Cup first round qualifiers!
The second leg of the qualifiers, which took place at Bukit Jalil National Stadium last night, saw striker Muhammad Shahrel Fikri scoring a hattrick to give Malaysia a 5-1 win.

Last Friday, the ferocious Tigers attacked Timor Leste’s Rising Sun squad to score 7-1 in the first leg. Thus, standing proud with a total of 12-2.
Let’s take a moment to congratulate the Tigers who hit their
goals, shall we?

To Corbin Ong Lawrence, Muhammad Shahrel Fikri, Norshahrul
Idlan Talaha, Muhammad Safawi Rasid, Mohd Faiz Nasir and Muhammad Akhyar Rashid…
Good job la, guys!
Harimau Malaya, which ranks 168th in the world,
will go on to the second round of qualifiers with 39 other top-level Asian
teams in September.

Hopefully, our fierce Tigers will be able to continue their
superb attacks and secure a spot in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers
as well as an instant entry to the Asian Cup.
C’mon Tigers! Kipidap dongibap!
