Things to know about the Sri Lanka bombings


Easter Sunday turned bloody in Sri Lanka after 8 bombings devastated the country.
How many victims?
At last count, almost 300 people have been killed and nearly 500 injured.
Where?
- 3 churches spread across Batticaloa, Kochchikade and Negombo.
- 3 luxury hotels in Colombo; The Shangri La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury.
- A hotel in front of Dehiwala Zoo.
- A house in Mahawila Gardens, Dematagoda.

Who is responsible?
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but authorities have detained at least 24 people as part of the investigation.
How are people responding?
Leaders from all around the world have been mourning over this tragedy.
Among them Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah,

Easter is a joyous occasion for Christians and to commit such an act on such a day or any day is truly condemnable.
