The alleged gold shop robbery in Genting Highlands has sparked debate online, with many questioning whether the suspects realised how difficult it would be to leave the hilltop area.
“Genting gold shop robbed. Genting has been temporarily placed under lockdown,” @j00raaaa wrote in a post.
The post included footage showing at least two individuals dressed in black running through a shopping complex.
However, many of those who commented appeared to have the same question: Did the alleged robbers actually know what they were getting themselves into?
“Even I got lost trying to find my way out of Genting when I went there… how did they even think of robbing a mall there? And it’s already so far just to get out,” @mangohyst wrote.
@aizzamil meanwhile speculated that the alleged robbers must be foreigners.
“Must be outsiders. They probably thought Genting has plenty of roads leading down.” he said.
Another user also questions the supposed robbers plan.
“You don’t even have to walk far before you’re already confused trying to find the exit. I don’t know if they had already planned which way to get out.” @syazwani_ali wrote.
Meanwhile, @kml_ariff shared a video of the traffic jam at Genting Highland, linking the situation to the alleged robbery.
Police have yet to issue an official statement on the alleged robbery, including claims that a temporary lockdown was imposed following the incident.
