A Malaysian man working in South Korea has died after being stabbed during a group fight, according to recent reports. Ahmad Shah, 26, was allegedly asked by a friend for help breaking up the brawl.
Reports indicate he was fatally stabbed while trying to assist his friend, who had become caught up in a fight involving a group of foreigners in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, around 10 people were believed to have been involved in the altercation.
The suspect fled to a nearby home after the attack but was soon apprehended. Police in Eumseong have since arrested a Malaysian man in his 40s, along with other suspects, to assist with ongoing investigations.
Ahmad Shah’s sister, Ain Sephia, 25, was informed about the incident at about 2.40am after contacting her sister-in-law.
Ain Sephia said her family was still struggling with the news of his death and hoped his remains could be brought back for burial in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang.
Ain Sephia said her brother was the eldest among her siblings. He had been working at a factory in South Korea and had lived there with his wife for the past seven years.
She described her brother as a kind man who would contact their mother daily. He was expected to return home in December and join his family on an umrah trip in January next year.
