Take Claims of Israelis in Forest City Seriously, Says Constitutional Law Expert
A constitutional law expert says authorities should thoroughly investigate allegations that Israeli nationals entered Malaysia using second passports, citing national security concerns and Malaysia’s longstanding policy of not recognising Israel.

Malaysia should take seriously allegations that Israeli nationals are residing in Forest City after allegedly entering the country using passports from their second countries of citizenship, says International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) constitutional law expert Associate Professor Datuk Dr Wan Ahmad Fauzi Wan Husain.
Wan Ahmad Fauzi said the issue extends beyond immigration compliance, stressing that it also raises legitimate national security concerns that warrant immediate attention.
He noted that Malaysia has never recognised the State of Israel and maintains no diplomatic relations with the country, making any allegation involving Israeli nationals particularly sensitive.

“What is more concerning is the potential security dimension. Any possibility of intelligence-related activities must not be taken lightly, especially given Malaysia’s firm stance against Israel’s actions and the strong public sentiment on the issue,” he said.
Wan Ahmad Fauzi urged the government to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the actual purpose of the individuals’ presence in Malaysia and whether any laws had been breached.
He pointed out that Malaysia had previously witnessed the 2018 assassination of Palestinian academic Dr Fadi Al-Batsh in Kuala Lumpur, a killing widely linked to suspected foreign intelligence operatives, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance.

“If investigations uncover any wrongdoing, the authorities must act firmly and without compromise. Malaysia has consistently refused to recognise Israel and does not maintain diplomatic ties with the country,” he said.
He also called for stricter enforcement and thorough document verification involving foreign nationals in Forest City, adding that any related offences uncovered during investigations should be dealt with according to the law.
