Claiming she had been stalked since April, university student @aynndyh_ recently shared footage on Threads of something weird that happened to her.
The CCTV footage showed a man reaching into the grille of her front door to fish out a shoe. He was then seen sniffing the shoe. This happened outside her apartment in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam.
In an update on the case, police confirmed they have arrested the suspect accused of stalking the 22-year-old university student.
In her post, @aynndyh._ warned others about the man, who reportedly stalked her to her apartment unit.
He was allegedly spotted doing this on two separate occasions.
Shah Alam OCPD Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the police received a report from the victim at 3.55pm on Sunday, 12 July, after the Threads post went viral online.
The victim claimed she had been harassed and followed by the man near her residence and at the university since April this year.
The 20-year-old suspect was detained at about 8.30pm on Sunday. Checks so far show he has a clean record and tested negative for drugs.
Police will seek a remand order for the suspect at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The case will be investigated under Section 507A of the Penal Code for repeated stalking. Anyone with information is urged to contact investigating officer Inspector Sabryna Taha at 014-5130450.
