Malaysians whose diesel vehicles are registered under one family member’s name but are used by another can now transfer their BUDI Diesel eligibility to the actual user, the Finance Ministry has announced.
Under the new feature, vehicle ownership remains unchanged, but eligibility for the BUDI Diesel subsidy can be transferred to an immediate family member who uses the vehicle.
According to the ministry, only close family members are eligible to receive the transferred subsidy. They include spouses, parents, children and siblings.
The recipient must also already qualify for the BUDI95 programme before they can receive the transferred BUDI Diesel eligibility.
The ministry also provided an example where a father who qualifies for both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel transfers his BUDI Diesel eligibility to his child, who is already eligible for BUDI95.
After the transfer, the father retains his BUDI95 eligibility while the child becomes eligible for both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel.
It added that the additional 100-litre diesel quota, where applicable, will also be transferred together with the BUDI Diesel eligibility.
Applications can be submitted online through the BUDI MADANI portal.
In a social media post, the ministry said the initiative is intended to ensure diesel subsidies reach those who are actually using the registered vehicle while making the application process simple through the BUDI MADANI portal.
In the first phase, applications must be submitted by 12 July and eligibility can be checked from 15 July onwards.
On 27 June, the government rolled out BUDI Diesel via MyKad with a subsidised price of RM2.10 per litre.
