Police Are Investigating PDRM Personnel Linked To Viral Video Insulting Chinese Nationals
A group of women recently went viral for making insulting remarks about Chinese locals in China while on holiday there.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have opened a disciplinary investigation paper on one of its members connected to a viral incident in China, where she was accused of insulting the locals while on holiday there recently.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the personnel involved is still on active duty at the moment, Berita Harian reported.
“I urge all parties to be calm and let PDRM conduct the investigation as best as they can, and not just from a disciplinary angle, whereas if there have been a violation of the law, appropriate action will be taken,” Mohd Khalid said during an event at the Royal Malaysia Police College recently.
The personnel’s position or role in PDRM was not disclosed.
Video of women ridiculing Chinese locals went viral
A group of Malaysian women faced heavy backlash recently, after one of them uploaded a video onto social media of them loudly mocking locals in China for being “smelly” while they covered their noses.
They also made a number of other derogatory remarks about the Chinese locals’ hygiene in the video.
The post quickly went viral on both Malaysian and Chinese social media platforms, and people criticised them for being rude and reassured others that Malaysians do not typically behave that way.
A lawyer’s letter and an apology
Their antics also became international coverage, with media outlets like Firstpost America reporting the incident and focusing on the woman who posted the video.
The video was posted on TikTok by one “Ekyn Wong” who subsequently deleted the video and later uploaded a lawyer’s letter that threatened to take action against anyone who slandered her, spread her personal information online or compromised her safety.
She later issued a public apology for her actions on social media.
“I, Nur Asyiqin Mohd Dalil, wholeheartedly apologise for my mistake, which was a spontaneous reaction I had while visiting China on 15 June. I understand and take full responsibility for my actions which caused discomfort to any party.
“I respect the views, criticisms, and feelings of all parties and never intended to offend, humiliate, or cause any conflict because at that time it was just a spontaneous and unplanned reaction,” she said.
Nur Asyiqin added that she will accept and acknowledge every criticism with an open heart, and will be more careful of her actions.
