‘Coronation’ Nullified, Tunku Nadzaruddin Also Loses Tunku Panglima Besar Title

Negeri Sembilan’s royal household has declared the June 5 installation of Tunku Nadzaruddin as Yang di-Pertuan Besar invalid, with the move also resulting in the loss of his hereditary title as Tunku Panglima Besar.

The installation of Tunku Datuk Seri Nadzaruddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan has been declared null and void, while the hereditary title of Tunku Panglima Besar of Negeri Sembilan previously held by him has also been revoked.

Negeri Sembilan Pengelola Bijaya Diraja (Comptroller of the Royal Household) Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali said the ceremony held at a hotel in Alor Gajah, Melaka, on June 5 carries no legal standing, reported The Edge.

“The title of Yang di-Pertuan Besar purportedly assumed by Tunku Datuk Seri Nadzaruddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar at the ceremony held at a hotel in Alor Gajah, Melaka, on June 5 has no legal effect.

“However, in his attempt to accept the invalid title, Tunku Datuk Seri Nadzaruddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar has effectively relinquished the hereditary title of Tunku Panglima Besar of Negeri Sembilan, which he previously held,” Azizi said in a statement.

He added that as a result, the hereditary title of Tunku Panglima Besar is now vacant, as there is no longer a holder of the position.
