Malaysians Can Apply For The 10-Year Passport (Soon)

Senior citizens aged 60 and above pay RM175 for the 10-year passport, while eligible OKU card holders and Immigration staff get theirs free.
Replacement fees for a lost or damaged 10-year passport start at RM550 and increase with each subsequent replacement for those aged 18 to 59.

Malaysians can soon apply for a new Malaysian passport with a 10-year validity for RM350. The standard 5-year option for RM200 remains available.

The 10-year passport option is available to those aged 18 to 59, as gazetted on 3 June. However, there has been no announcement yet on when Malaysians can start applying.

A longer passport validity helps reduce paperwork, and frequent travellers don’t need to renew as often as before.

This follows the new government order, the Fees (Passports and Visas) (Amendment) Order 2026), which was gazetted and came into effect on Wednesday.

For those not aged between 18 and 59, this is the pricing for the 10-year passport validity:

Age 60 and above: RM175 | RM100 for 5-year validity
Age 18 and above + OKU card: Free
Immigration Department officer/staff: Free

The following groups remain under the 5-year passport category:

Children aged 12 and below (RM100).
Students aged 21 and below enrolled in overseas degree programmes (RM100).
Pilgrims travelling for Haj (RM100).
Individuals under 19 with disabilities (Free).

What’s the replacement fee for a 10-year passport?

The amendment sets the fee for the replacement of lost and damaged passports at:

Age 18 to 59:

RM550 for the first replacement.
RM850 for the second replacement.
RM1,350 for the third and subsequent replacement.

Senior citizens:

RM375 for the first replacement.
RM675 for the second replacement.
RM1,175 for the third and subsequent replacement.

Eligible OKU card holders and Immigration Department staff:

RM200 for the first replacement.
RM500 for the second replacement.
RM1,000 for the third and subsequent replacement.

Additionally, the amendment changes the wording related to students studying abroad. The updated regulations narrow the eligibility criteria for students, now specifying those ‘studying for a degree programme abroad’ rather than the broader term ‘studying abroad’ used in earlier provisions.
