Kelantan Influencer’s Bunian-Themed Party For Daughters Draws Scrutiny From Religious Authorities
There were ghosts, pocong, and blindbox door gifts at the extravagant party.

Kelantan religious authorities have launched an investigation into Malaysian influencer and entrepreneur Farhana Zahra over a ghost-themed birthday party she organised for her three daughters in Tumpat.
Popularly known as Cik Na, she threw the RM500,000 party on 29 May with the theme ‘’Bunian Village.’’ According to Malay superstition, the orang bunian or invisible people are believed to be supernatural beings from another dimension.

Videos of the extravagant event showed attendees dressed in all-white clothes while actors dressed as ghosts, pocong, or the dead roamed about. One or two attendees also walked down the ‘’aisle’’ with gifts in hand. In another clip, it looked like two male actors were waving their hands in front of a crouched female ‘’ghost.’’
She shared behind-the-scenes footage of the party setup, along with details on the cost of the blind box door gifts for guests.

Farhana, who runs a beauty and dietary supplement business, was asked to give a statement to the Kelantan religious authorities because her event was said to contain elements deemed inconsistent with Islamic teachings.
The Kelantan PAS government observes a strict interpretation of Islamic law. State mufti Mohamad Shukri Mohamad stated that worshipping ghosts is prohibited in Islam, adding that birthday celebrations for children should be conducted in a manner permissible under the religion, such as through prayers or other practices in accordance with syariah law.

Farhana gave her statement to the religious authorities on 2 June. She shared that she didn’t know holding a ghost-themed party would cause issues because there are haunted houses at schools and expos in Kelantan. She said the incident was a lesson for everyone.
The Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAHEAIK) is in the final stages of completing its investigation papers on the case. The case is investigated under Section 12 of the Syariah Criminal Code Enactment 2019.
Farhana isn’t a stranger to controversy. Last year, she made headlines after she apologised for only spending RM1 million on her daughter’s 11th birthday.
