A series of photos showing a kindergarten building in deplorable condition has gained significant attention on X (formerly Twitter).
Lina Ramsah shared the photos on her X account, tagging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to get his attention on the matter.
“Not everyone gets a smooth and pleasant first day of school. This is one of the kindergartens at Kampung Lajong, Kudat, I think,” she said in her post.
Kindergarten in ruins

From the photos, the kindergarten’s structure appears to be in a badly damaged condition, with broken zinc roofs, splintered wood floors, and thin plank walls with holes in them.
“The building is no longer safe. Same as Kemas at my place. Something needs to be done. It’s not safe for the kids,” Lina said.
Malaysians in the comments urged her to notify the relevant assemblyman or Member of Parliament about the dilapidated school, but Lina said the matter has gone viral multiple times, allegedly with no action from the state’s representatives.
Some also tagged Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek in the comments to bring the issue to her attention.
I hv to unprivate my twitter so I can tag this post. It needs @anwaribrahim attention or person incharge. Tidak semua permulaan hari persekolahan itu berjalan dgn lancar dan indah for some. This is one of the tabika, at Kg Lajong, Kudat I think. More photo in the thread. pic.twitter.com/OVSJbwUfBm

More than 900 students unable to start first day of school in Sabah
As many as 908 students were not able to start their first school session of 2026 last Monday (12 January) due to seven schools being affected by floods and landslides which hit several districts in Sabah.
According to Sinar Harian, Sabah Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the number involves students from five schools that were affected by floods in the Beaufort district, while two other schools by landslides.
“Besides the five schools in Beaufort that were announced earlier, two more schools that are unable to being their sessions are Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang, Tenom, following a landslide on the school’s premises.
“The Public Works Department (JKR) have issued an order for school staff to evacuate the premises over safety factorsfor the time being.
“Meanwhile, although the flood has receded at Sekolah Kebangsaan Rampayan Manggatal, Kota Kinabalu, the school is forced to close today and carry out Teaching and Learning at Home to allow cleaning works as well as damaged furniture replacement,” Raisin told Sinar Harian.
Earlier this month, Sabah was hit by continuous heavy rain which caused flooding that was described by locals as the worst they’ve seen in 50 years.
