A 29-year-old man who hit a woman’s head was arrested in Serdang, Selangor, on 6 June.

In the viral video, the suspect wearing a red shirt exited his Proton Persona and knocked on the woman’s car window.

He claimed she drove dangerously and was “playing with people’s lives.” When the woman claimed she overtook on the dotted line, he hit her head in anger for talking back.

The man also threatened to beat up her 17-year-old brother who was sitting on the front passenger side.

The incident is believed to have taken place while both cars were travelling from Cameron Highlands towards Tapah, Perak.

According to the police statement, the 24-year-old victim lodged a police report at Saujana Utama police station in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.

Investigations revealed that the man’s car was registered under a woman’s name with an address at Tanjong Karang, Selangor.

The suspect, a factory supervisor, was traced to Serdang, Selangor, and arrested.

Police said the suspect will be brought to IPD Tapah for further investigation. The case will be investigated under Section 323, Section 506 and Section 509 of the Penal Code.

The viral video garnered criticism from netizens. While they understood that the woman might have driven dangerously, they agreed what the man did next was wrong.

Netizens said the man should have calmly told her off or advised her, but he shouldn’t have raised his hand to hit her.
