It can be frustrating to realize that after going through the process of delivering a baby (some women even undergoing C-sections), you are expected to take care of your baby and yourself throughout the night, all by yourself. Because newborns require constant attention, you need to be agile in attending to their needs. However, at the same time, you are also recovering from a wound in that sensitive area (especially if it’s a C-section, which limits movement significantly).

Additionally, she added that new mothers are also required to change their sanitary pad every two to three hours and take showers, which means the mother would have to temporarily leave their baby alone.
Certainly, there are nurses available, but sometimes you would appreciate assistance with things like “Could you please grab some fresh clothes from the linen closet? My baby just threw up on me” or “Can you wet this napkin? I need to wipe off the dried milk from my baby’s lips.” It’s not that nurses don’t have other tasks to attend to, but these seemingly small requests are important to us as new parents, and we hope for a bit of help and understanding.
