The Ministry of Education has refuted claims that it issued a circular mandating the viewing of a biopic about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In a statement, the Education Ministry said no such directive regarding the film screening was ever released.
Previously, a circular allegedly attributed to Education Director-General Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali stated that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek had instructed heads of departments, state education directors, and principals to watch the biopic titled “Anwar: The Untold Story” at their nearest cinema, accompanied by teachers and students.
A few days earlier, a screening of the movie took place at SMK Putrajaya Presint 5, with Fadhlina in attendance, which was organized by the ministry.
However, the school administration later clarified that the screening was an extracurricular activity and no students were compelled to watch it.
It is important to note that the movie was released on May 18 and sparked criticism on social media.
